Paris: Former world number 1 Andy Murray announced his retirement through a social media post. He will say goodbye to tennis after the 2024 Paris Olympics.
37-year-old Andy Murray, who played his first Olympics at the Beijing Games in 2008, will participate in the singles and doubles event in Paris, which will be his fifth Olympics.
Andy Murray wrote on social media platform X, “I have arrived in Paris for my last tennis tournament. Competing for Team Britain has been the most memorable week of my career so far and I am extremely proud to have the opportunity to play it one last time!”
The British player won his first Olympic singles gold at the 2012 London Olympics, where he defeated Swiss legend Roger Federer.
